The coffee that we source is from small-holder farms in east Africa. These are small farms of about 1-5 acres, where a variety of crops are grown in close proximity.  Coffee farmers in Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda - where we source our green coffee - are typically paid with cash when they deliver their coffee to the washing station. this, of course, is untraceable and also does not provide any assurance that each farmer is paid fairly and directly.
